Labour Market Information (LMI) Matrix

Data Quality and Disclaimer

Please ensure that you read the following before making use of any data within this Matrix.

All data presented within this Matrix has its data source shown alongside. Data reliability within the Matrix has been maintained by adhering to the guidance provided by the administrator or owner of the data or datasets used. Please refer to the actual data sources for data definitions and data collection methods where they are not provided within the Matrix – see Data Source Annex for relevant information and links.

Data within the Matrix has been sourced from the Office for National Statistics (including Labour Force Survey, Annual Business Inquiry, Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings); National Employer Skills surveys from England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland; data provided within Annual Reports, Workforce Statistics Bulletins and other relevant publications provided by Justice sector organisations or Government Departments; as well as Skills for Justice's own annual employers survey and research programme.

Where data is not shown within a Matrix cell because of sample size and / or confidentiality, the data cell is starred (*). Where no data is available (i.e. because it is not collected), the data cell is denoted by NA, a blank cell, or a dash (-).

The 'Justice sector' is currently limited to SIC (2003) codes 75.23 and 75.24 for all sources other than that labelled Skills for Justice data. Where Skills for Justice data is concerned, the definition of 'Justice sector' is wider and figures have been derived by the collation of data from the key organisations that make up the sector, or a particular strand of the sector, as defined by Skills for Justice's SSC functional footprint. Data relating to Fire and Rescue Services is not yet part of the Matrix but will be included in future editions.
